For almost the entirety of my career I heard " they will never socialize medicine." People love their doctors. That may have been true many decades ago. No any more. When Elvis died his doctor went to jail. Also with Michael Jackson. We thought they were bad doctors. But I have had colleagues indicted and convicted of everything from Medicare fraud to racketeering. No kidding. It is now a national sport to put a doctor in Jail. What does this mean? It means doctors will not be willing to take higher risk patients. This may be any of us at any time. So next time you get a minute, give thanks if you have a good doctor . They are as rare as honest politicians.
